Six Teens and a Spaniel ~ Birthday Party Photography in Hertfordshire

I got to shoot a 13th Birthday party earlier this year (which I have finally got around to blogging). I was a little daunted at first by the thought of 6 teenagers but they were an absolute pleasure and great fun to photograph, especially when lovely Millie the spaniel joined in.

There was also time for some portraits of the birthday girl. When I shoot portraits I like to use natural light where possible as there's really nothing as beautiful as soft window light. Katie was a natural in front of the camera (and Millie too).......here's some of my favourites.

Miss Polly had a Dolly (Nursery Photography)

Ok, I'll admit it....I'm quite a haphazard blogger. There always seems to be so many things to do and this year seems to have flown by! Anyway, at last a new blog post.

The challenge of working with children is their absolute unpredictability so it's always lots of fun to photograph a nursery. Instead of spending a few hours with the children, I get about 5 or 10 minutes each, so they don't really have a lot of time to get used to me. I have to make it as quick and as fun as possible but luckily some of the lovely staff there were very happy to help. Several teddy bears helped me out by taking pictures too and there was a lot of singing! Miss Polly had a Dolly was definitely the most popular.

Moor Park Wedding Album

It's so exciting when I get an album back from the printers. An awful lot of hard work goes into them and it's lovely to hold the finished product in my hands. The pages are printed photographically and then mounted onto a thick board which just shows off the pictures perfectly.

Zoe and Anthony had two Parent Albums made as well, identical copies of their album, just a bit smaller. It's a great feeling to hand over the books but it's always a bit sad to let them go!

Zoe and Anthony's Wedding in Hertfordshire

A few weeks ago I got to shoot Zoe and Anthony's Wedding at Moor Park, Rickmansworth. It's a beautiful venue to get married in and Zoe, Anthony and their friends and family were all really lovely and a lot of fun to photograph.

Rain, more rain and a lucky half hour...

These are a few of my favourites from a wedding back in August. Why does it always seem to rain all through August now? I wasn't hopeful that we would manage any shots outside but luckily straight after the wedding the rain stopped and it was even a little sunny for half an hour. Time to grab a few shots before the rain came again and it was off to the reception.

Exhibition of Portraits at Café Cha Cha Cha!

After lots of late nights and busy days my exhibition is now up at the lovely Cha Cha Cha Café in Cassiobury Park, Watford. It will be up until the 6th of October and the café is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 5pm at the weekends. They also do fabulous cakes, have really friendly staff and a great playground for the little ones!

I'm not a good blogger! There's always seems to be a million and one other things to do (plus I'd much rather be out taking photographs) I'm also a working mum so summer holidays are always a fun mix of work, play and days out with my daughter.

I have my exhibition coming up soon too so I'm busy doing the last touches so it will be ready for September the 8th. Very exciting! Here's three I've decided to use which will all go together in one frame....always a good idea if you can't decide on a favourite!

Early Summer mornings are a lovely time for photography and these three were great fun to photograph (even if they did keep telling me to look up at the aeroplane and then tickling me when I did!)

Toys often play an important part when I am photographing children. Sometimes a well-loved bear will help me take the photo but more often I'm asked to take a picture of a favourite toy and I can never turn down a request from a little one!
